Last-Minute Surf Camp in Morocco: Booking at Short Notice

How to book a last-minute surf week in Imsouane, Morocco: checking availability by WhatsApp, airport transfers, deposits and what to sort before you fly.

By Tafukt Surf Updated 5 min read

Booking a surf camp in Morocco at short notice is usually realistic. At Tafukt Surf in Imsouane, you message us by WhatsApp or email with your dates, and we confirm availability the same day. A small deposit secures the week, and you settle the balance on arrival. Before you fly, send us your flight details so we can arrange a transfer from Agadir (about 2 hours) or Marrakech (about 4 hours).

Can you really book a surf camp in Morocco last minute?

Usually, yes. Imsouane is a small fishing village on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, and a short-notice trip there needs very little planning. You don’t have to sort out equipment, because boards and wetsuits are included. Getting from the airport is handled by a transfer we arrange. Every Tafukt Surf week runs for 7 nights, so the main question is whether the surf house has space on your dates.

Whether space is available depends on the season and on how many people are travelling. Asking costs nothing, and you’ll have an answer the same day.

How do I check availability at short notice?

Send us a message by WhatsApp or email. To get a clear answer in one reply, include:

  • Your dates, plus any flexibility you have
  • How many people are coming, and whether you need a family room
  • Your surfing level, from complete beginner to confident on green waves
  • Which week interests you, or say you’re open to suggestions

We confirm availability the same day. A small deposit then secures the week, and you settle the balance on arrival. If you need details that aren’t on the website, such as exact room arrangements, arrival times or dietary needs, ask in the same message and we’ll confirm them directly.

Which option fits a last-minute trip?

OptionLengthWhat’s includedBest for
Surf Camp Week7 nightsSurf house stay, 5 guided sessions, board and wetsuitBeginners and anyone who wants a simple, complete surf trip
Surf & Yoga Week7 nightsEverything in the Surf Camp Week, plus 5 rooftop yoga sessions, a traditional hammam and slow-food family dinnersSurfers who want a slower pace and time to recover
Surf Development Week7 nightsSmall-group coaching capped at five, daily video analysis, spot-chasing by 4x4, and sessions on tides, theory and reading the line-upIntermediate surfers and above
Lessons only2 hours (kids: 1h30)Group, semi-private, private or kids lesson, with board and wetsuitAnyone with a few free days nearby

If you can’t fit a full week into your trip, ask about lessons. Group lessons take up to five surfers, semi-private lessons take two or three, and private coaching includes video analysis.

Does the time of year affect last-minute availability?

It does. The surf calendar shapes both the waves and how busy the village gets.

  • December to February brings the biggest swell and the busiest weeks, so short-notice space can be harder to find.
  • September to April is when north-west Atlantic swell is most consistent.
  • May to August has the smallest waves. It’s the best time to learn, and a good window if you’re planning late.

Magic Bay, the main wave, is a long right-hand point break. It runs for roughly 800 metres and breaks over sand for much of its length. Because it’s unusually forgiving, beginners and experienced surfers can share a trip and both get waves in almost any month.

What should I sort before flying?

Once your week is confirmed, a few things are worth checking before you book flights:

  1. Entry requirements. Many nationalities can visit Morocco for short stays without a visa, but the rules depend on your passport. Check official guidance for your nationality, including any passport validity requirements.
  2. Your flight into Agadir or Marrakech. Agadir Al Massira (AGA) is the nearest airport.
  3. Your flight details. Send them to us as soon as you have them so we can arrange the transfer.
  4. Travel insurance that covers surfing. Policies differ, so read the activity exclusions.
  5. Anything you need confirmed in writing, such as room setup or dietary needs. Ask before you travel, not on arrival.

How do I get from the airport to Imsouane?

Arrival pointApproximate time to ImsouaneNotes
Agadir Al Massira (AGA)About 2 hoursNearest airport, and the shortest transfer
MarrakechAbout 3.5 to 4 hoursCan suit you if flights there fit your dates better
EssaouiraAbout 90 minutesHandy if you’re already travelling along the coast

We arrange transfers from Agadir and Marrakech. Send your flight details when you book, and we’ll confirm the pickup and what it costs at the same time.

What should I pack if I’m booking late?

Pack light. Boards and wetsuits are included in lessons and surf weeks. Our rental covers everything from soft-tops to performance shortboards, with wetsuits in 3/2 and 4/3 in every size. A 3/2 wetsuit works for most of the year, with water around 17-20°C in winter and 20-23°C in summer.

Bring strong sunscreen, because Imsouane gets around 340 days of sun a year. Bring a warm layer for the rooftop in the evenings, too. Mornings usually have the cleanest conditions, and onshore wind tends to build after midday. Expect early starts.

If you have your own board, you’re welcome to bring it. Many guests travel with nothing more than a bag of clothes.

Ready to check your dates?

Compare what’s included on the surf weeks page. If a full week doesn’t fit, see the lessons page for shorter options. Our rental page lists the boards and wetsuits available, and activities covers what to do between sessions, such as Moroccan cooking with Aïcha, sandboarding and Paradise Valley. When you’re ready, send us your dates by WhatsApp or email. We’ll confirm availability the same day.

Questions & answers

How quickly will I know if there's space?
Tafukt Surf confirms availability the same day you get in touch by WhatsApp or email. Send your exact dates, the number of people and roughly how much surfing you've done. That way we can answer in one message instead of going back and forth.
Do I need to pay in full to book a last-minute surf week?
No. A small deposit secures the week, and the balance is settled when you arrive in Imsouane. We confirm current prices directly when you book, and you can see what each week includes on the surf weeks page.
Can you pick me up from the airport if I book late?
Yes. Tafukt Surf arranges airport transfers from Agadir, which is about 2 hours away, and from Marrakech, which is about 4 hours away. Send your flight details when you book so the pickup can be organised around your arrival time.
Do I need to bring a surfboard or wetsuit?
No. Boards and wetsuits are included in all Tafukt Surf lessons and surf-week packages, and we rent wetsuits in 3/2 and 4/3 in every size. You're welcome to bring your own equipment if you prefer, but you don't have to.
Is it awkward to join a surf camp alone at the last minute?
Not at all. Most guests at Tafukt Surf arrive on their own. Shared evening meals on the rooftop are how people meet, so joining partway through the season is easy.
