Can a group of friends book a surf week together?
Yes. Tafukt Surf is a family-run surf camp in Imsouane, on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, run by two surfing brothers, Mhend and Mohamed, and their mother Aïcha. Every surf week is 7 nights in the surf house, about five minutes from the line-up, so a group can arrive together, surf together and eat together all week.
We think of it as opening our home rather than running a hotel. Evenings centre on the rooftop, where the house shares meals at sunset. Aïcha does the cooking: bread baked each morning, slow-cooked tajines and mint tea.
How do rooms work for a group?
The surf house has rooms that suit families travelling together, and they work just as well for friends who are happy to share. How your group is split between rooms depends on how many of you are coming and what is free that week.
We don’t publish a fixed room layout because it changes with availability. When you message us, give your group size and say who wants to share with whom, and we confirm the arrangement directly when you book. The same goes for check-in times, dietary needs and anything else not covered here. Ask us through the contact page.
What if our group has mixed surfing levels?
Imsouane is a good place for a mixed group. Magic Bay is a right-hand point break of roughly 800 metres that peels over sand for much of its length. It is unusually forgiving, so a complete beginner and an experienced surfer can surf the same bay on the same morning.
Groups in the water are capped at five. If there are more than five of you, you’ll surf as more than one group, which makes it easier to put people of similar ability together. Our coaches are ISA-certified and compete at home and abroad.
Cathedral Point, on the exposed side of the headland, is more powerful and breaks over rock, so it is for experienced surfers only. If anyone in the group wants more attention, we also offer 2-hour semi-private lessons for two to three people and one-to-one private coaching with video analysis.

When should a group come?
| Months | Swell | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| September to April | Most consistent north-west swell | Most groups |
| December to February | Biggest and busiest | Experienced surfers. Get in touch early |
| May to August | Smallest | Learning and first-timers |
The water is about 17-20C in winter and 20-23C in summer, and a 3/2 wetsuit covers most of the year. Mornings are usually cleanest, and the onshore wind builds after midday, so afternoons are a good time for group activities such as Moroccan cooking, sandboarding, surf-skate or a trip to Paradise Valley.
How does the group get to Imsouane?
The nearest airport is Agadir Al Massira (AGA), about 2 hours south by road. Marrakech is about 4 hours away and Essaouira about 90 minutes. We arrange airport transfers from Agadir or Marrakech. Send everyone’s flight details when you book, and if people are arriving on different flights, tell us and we’ll confirm how the transfers will work.
You can bring your own boards. If you’d rather not, we rent everything from soft-tops to performance shortboards, wetsuits in 3/2 and 4/3 in every size, and surf-skates, by the day or the week.
What should we ask before booking?
- How the rooms will be arranged for your exact group size
- Whether people in the group can do different weeks during the same stay
- How transfers work if you’re arriving on different flights
- Any dietary needs, and check-in times
- The price for your dates and group size
We speak English, French, German and Arabic, so everyone in a mixed-nationality group can ask in a language they’re comfortable with.
How does booking work?
You book by WhatsApp or email, and we confirm availability the same day. A small deposit secures the week, and the balance is settled on arrival. Plenty of guests come on their own, so expect to meet other surfers over rooftop dinners as well as your own group.
